I would enjoy being a moderator very much, perhaps in the Mapping or Texture forums.

While I'm not very fluid with the new Unreal Editor yet, I've had past experience with the previous versions, and in regards to the texture side of things, my major in college for three years was Graphic Design, so my Photoshop know-how is pretty considerable.

I've also been a moderator (even administrator) for various websites around the 'net, including the forums for Penny Arcade, so I understand the responsibility of keeping things enjoyable, yet civil.

Hi ouren and thx for ut interest, in an ideal world, modelling section moderators would need experience in max or maya and also experience in importing models to UE3.

Do you have any experience in these fields?

Thanks

Sounds good, if you can stick around and we can see that you are active, i think we would love to have you.

PS. Wouldbe cool if you can master the UE3 Materials too as this is where most of our questions arise.

Thanks a lot

Hi BiGGsy,

I am new here, but trust me, had I known this site existed, I would have been one of the first sign ups!

I would love to moderate the Mapping section for you, and since I am brand new here, thought I would give you a bit of a background on myself,

I am 25, from BC Canada, and I have been a hardcore UT fan since the beginning, in fact, it was Unreal that first inspired me to learn how to do quite a few things on the PC.

I had joined an Unreal clan shortly after buying my first computer, and our clan leader one day invited me to a map, when I learned he had made it himself, I became obsessed with UT, as it has been my dream since a kid to make my own video game, and I saw UT as a way of making it happen in a way.

From there, I started learning everything I could about computer hardware, just to be able to build myself the ideal computer to map and play online without the lag etc., being that I was pretty young then with very little money...

After some time, I had ended up getting Photoshop to work on my own textures and skins, and before long, UT2K3 was coming around the corner and my clan had asked me if I wanted to run a UT2K3 division.
Right there I went out and got my hands on Macromedia Dreamweaver and learned everything I needed to in order to create and run a website for this UT2K3 division.

While running this clan, I had created not only all of the content on the website, but a few maps and skin packs just for the clan as well.
I was also the sole moderator of our forum(not that we ever really NEEDED one, to be fair).

So, to Bring us to today,
I had learned that UT3 was coming out multi platform earlier this year, and this time modding was coming to the PS3...
The news gave me that same kick I got back in the day, as I now have the chance for another step towards my goal, making content for a leading console this time, as consoles are where video games started for me(thanks Atari), so naturally, I have always wanted to see my work in the living room being played by everyone.

So, as soon as I could get my hands on UT3 I went and watched all of the UED3 tutorials in preparation for the changes to the editor, and have been reading everything related that I can get my hands on.
Now I am currently working on a few UT3 maps, and am trying to learn some 3D design on the side as well, just so that I can create my own content for the maps.

I would be really honored to moderate here, as I see it as another step in the right direction for me, and now I have more than enough time on my hands to keep the browser open and check in to the site frequently.(after all, I do need something to do in between those super long UED map builds right? Wink )

I know that most of the people you will consider to moderate here have just as much passion for UT as I do, and I won't claim to have any greater knowledge regarding UED than most of the long time UT mappers...
However, I will be cooking maps for the PS3, which will make me equipped to help out in that department as well.

Because I have been more than active in the UT community since launch, I have already proven my long term dedication, and should you choose me, you can be confident that I will show the same dedication to these forums.

So, thats my hello, and my name in the hat!

I'll see you in the forums from now on,
thanks for the consideration, and the long read!
